About Us
1096 is owned and manufactured by the Stafford Group (established in Victoria in 1893) who are now one of the largest tailored menswear fashion houses in Australia.
To make a 1096 the finest quality materials are sourced from around the world and then manufactured into quality two-trouser suits in our own facility by our tailors.
This level of experience and control gives us the confidence to offer you the strongest guarantee in the industry – your new 1096 suit will look good and wear exceptionally well for 3 years and a day.
-
A 1096 suit is made to look great even when worn regularly. In fact, we guarantee that your 1096 suit will perform for 3 years and a day (given fair wear and tear).
This guarantee is a statement of confidence in the quality of our materials and skill of our tailors. Please note that our guarantee is for ‘regular wear’ and does not cover damage by accident, misuse, insects and vermin, zips or loss of buttons, or if your suit has been altered incorrectly. -
In the unlikely event that you experience a problem with your 1096 suit, please return it to the place of purchase or contact Customer Service on 1800 333 241 between 9am-5pm AEST Monday-Friday.
We want our 1096 customers to be delighted with their choice and will do what is reasonable to resolve any issues. If the problem is a defect in our materials or workmanship, we will promptly replace the item if it cannot be repaired. -
With proper care your 1096 suit will wear even longer than 3 years and a day. Trousers experience the most use and every 1096 suit includes an additional pair so you can alternate.
In addition to this we advise you follow general best practice for the care of tailored clothing by airing and resting your suit and limiting the amount of dry cleaning. See below for a more detailed guide to suit care.
Caring for suits can be fairly simple
How to Care for your Suit
AIRING
Occasional airing is recommended to get rid of any odours and dry out perspiration which will lessen the need for dry cleaning.
DRY CLEANING
Only leave your garment with a dry cleaner you trust. Care taken and the quality of chemicals used varies greatly and a poor dry cleaning job can damage your suit.
PRESSING
Excessive exposure to dry cleaning solvents can be harmful for your suit. Where possible, get your suit pressed to remove creases rather than dry cleaning.
RESTING
Try to avoid wearing the same garment two consecutive days, if possible give 24 hours to rest it and alternate trousers. This gives your suit time to recover and retain its shape.
HANGING
Keep your suit on a good hanger in a cool fresh place with enough breathing space to allow creases to drop out. Wool suits are recommended to be hung in a steamy bathroom occasionally for a short time to relax the fabric.
BRUSHING
Dust and dirt can dull the appearance of your suit. When required, gently brush the fabric using a natural bristle clothes brush to remove surface soil that might become stains later on.
